Our Mission Set up in 1999 to create fresh and vibrant small scale theatre, Gambolling Arena Theatre Company have gone from strength to strength over the past 12 years with acclaimed performances at the prestigious King's Head Theatre, the Manchester Royal Exchange,English Theatre Of Bruges and in Poland. Over the past year Gambolling Arena have received 5* awards from both the Brighton Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for their first piece of new writing 'I wish you Love' - A conversation between Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich. The company have created an interesting and diverse back catalogue that features the work of John godber, Marina Carr (for the Liverpool Irish Festival) Mike Leigh, Eve Ensler, Jacques Brel, Dennis Potter & Stephen King - to name but a few. Over the past two years the Company have moved into site specific Theatre as well, and have had many successes in adapting the wonderful work of Roald Dahl to outdoor spaces. and have toured along the Lancashire coast bringing theatre to young people whom in the past have had no true access to the wonders of live theatre. We were privileged to work in the Historic space that is St Lukes Church in Liverpool and had the honour of being one of the few Theatre Companies invited to perform. And we are currently writing an outdoor performance of The Nativity to perform at the Church for Christmas 2011. And there is more to come.. further European tours, more new writing and revivals. All under the banner of Gambolling Arena's trademark of good quality theatre... |
